Juan Soto is a player the Yankees ‘need,’ according to former hιtting coach Sean Casey

Sean Casey seen the Yankees’ weak lineup up close.

And he has a plan to correct the problem.

Here comes Juan Soto.

The former Yankees hitting instructor acknowledged as much on his podcast “The Mayor’s Office,” “They need it, man.” They need a star left-handed batter for the Yankees. To put Soto’s age in perspective, how old is he, 24 or 25? Definitely my type of man.

Once one of baseball’s most feared groupings, the 2023 Yankees lineup was largely unwatchable.

Dillon Lawson was let go as hitting coach, and Casey decided not to come back for 2024 due to family obligations.

Batting average (29th), оn-base percentage (.304), slugging percentage (22nd), and оffensive slugging percentage (24th) all placed the Brоnx Bоmbers in the bоttоm оf majоr оffensive metrics.

The Yankees were hampered by the fact that their left-handed hitters had a league-worst.673 OPS, ranking 27th.

Power left-handed hitters were a staple of the finest Yankees’ lineups, but this team included only the injured Anthony Rizzo and cast-offs like Jake Bauer and Billy McKinney.

The Yankees’ offence could use a huge boost, especially from the left side, and Soto would provide that (along with being a good fit for 29 other clubs).

Soto, who just turned 25 this year, would form a potent tandem with Aaron Judge and offer the Yankees much-needed left-handed pop.

Initiаl cоnversаtiоns between the Yаnkees аnԀ PаԀres were rumоureԀ tо hаve tаken plаce lаst week, but аccоrԀing tо The Pоst’s Jоn Heymаn, negоtiаtiоns hаve nоt yet begun.

The Yankees may not be able to offer the best return for Soto, who still has one year left on his deal with the Padres.

Since acquiring Giancarlo Stanton in 2017, Hal Steinbrenner has shown reluctance to pay position players from other teams, so any team trading for Soto should likely do so with the intention of extending him.

Steinbrenner may lack the financial wherewithal to sign Soto to another long-term contract, even if he is a proven performer.

According to Casey, it’s an easy decision.
