While working with the USC Tigers’ media department, Bronny James was asked who his all-time favourite player was. Bronny hesitated a moment before confidently stating, in his father’s honour, that LeBron James was his all-time favourite player.
“All-time favourite player? Most likely, LeBron James.”
Though this may sound trite to many, fathers are heroes to their children as they grow up. LeBron was admired by Bronny in the same manner that he was admired by millions of people worldwide. Bronny will undoubtedly inherit his father’s work ethic and competitiveness when he embarks on his basketball career
When you pose a question like this, particularly to Bronny, there aren’t many better choices available than LeBron. His devoted father has done everything within his power to support him in realising his NBA aspirations. Despite a significant setback this summer due to a heart crisis, Bronny is determined to keep training towards his goal of being selected in the 2024 NBA Draught.
In the NBA, will LeBron James and Bronny James be teammates?
Over the past few years, it has been evident that LeBron is prolonging his career in order to play in the NBA with Bronny. LeBron has positioned himself to depart the Lakers at the end of the season and, presumably, sign with whichever team ends up picking Bronny because he has a player option on his contract for the following season.
James has expressed his desire to play alongside Bronny on multiple occasions in the past. When he stated that he wouldn’t mind facing Bronny in the NBA as long as they got to share the court, he also attempted to retract that statement. He did say that being teammates with Bronny was the icing on the cake, so obviously he is licking his wounds.
Because they selected Brnny in the first round of the draught, the Lakers are also on guard, not wanting to see their franchise player depart in the summer to take a minimal deal with a rival. The Lakers are reportedly working to find a way to sign Bronny and ensure that LeBron continues to wear purple and gold, according to The Athletic.
Should James choose down a player option worth $51 million, he may become a free agent in the summer. The single biggest factor influencing James’ free agency may be the serious health situation that befell his kid Bronny during the summer, which may have delayed his entry into the NBA Draught. If feasible, he would prefer to be able to play with his son on the same team, but most observers think the Lakers will find a way to ensure that happens in Los Angeles even if Bronny is selected in the draught (he plans to play as a freshman for USC at some point this season).
The second James family generation is expected to join the NBA in the summer of 2024, which might pave the way for the first father-son team to play in the league at the same time in NBA history. It should be an exciting time to watch.
