Nathaniel Lowe, the first baseman for the Texas Rangers, is aware that his team still has work to do following their crushing 9-1 Game 2 loss to the Arizona Diamondbacks on Saturday in the World Series.
They managed just four hits and one walk in the whole game, shutting down a fiery Rangers onslaught. After an incredible comeback victory (6–5) in Game 1, the Rangers were on a high note on Friday. In the ninth inning, Corey Seager hit the tying home run, and then in the eleventh, Adolis Garcia blasted a walk-off home run.
But a day later, Diamondbacks ace Merill Kelly, who pitched a seven-inning, one-run, two-hit shutout, completely dominated them. Mitch Garver’s solo homer was the only one that he allowed to score after retiring the first 11 batters.
Although Lowe acknowledged the change in luck, he believes the Rangers will turn things around when the series shifts to Arizona.
It is a set of seven games. It would be stupid of us to believe that we could easily win four straight games against a team that puts in as much effort as we did.”They had to make it through the Wild Card round before continuing on and reaching this point. Although they are a tough group, we also feel fairly secure in our own group,” Lowe remarked.
The Rangers pitching staff battled in the at-bat department and gave up some significant runs in the closing innings.
Before the Dbacks added five more runs in the last two innings, Jordan Montgomery started to slip away in the seventh inning. Since 2014, their 16 hits in a World Series game are a record.
After suffering a heartbreaking defeat in Game 1, Arizona was astonished by their decisive victory. But as they have done all season, they recovered magnificently to regain the upper hand.
The Texas Rangers have a great road record as they travel to Phoenix.
The Rangers, who are undefeated on the road this postseason, will be optimistic about their prospects despite the first leg of the series splitting in Arlington.
They have triumphed in eight straight games, including pivotal ALCS games at Minute Maid Park in Games 6 and 7 against the Houston Astros. On Monday, October 30, the Rangers and Diamondbacks play Game 3.
