Jonah Heim, the catcher for the Texas Rangers, acknowledged to reporters before the World Series between the Texas Rangers and the Arizona Diamondbacks that his team is capable of some impressive baserunning. Although both teams proved formidable in their Championship Series triumphs, the Diamondbacks’ exceptional running has allowed them to advance this far in the season.
Jonah Heim made his major league debut for the Oakland Athletics in 2020 after being originally selected by the Baltimore Orioles in the 2013 MLB draft. Prior to the 2021 season, he was traded to the Rangers, where he made a smooth transition in his first season. This season, he made his debut as an All-Star and has been a vital member of the Rangers’ regular and postseason squads.
Throughout the postseason, the Arizona Diamondbacks have established themselves as a running club thanks to some outstanding sprinting between the bases and some really clever plays. Despite not being the favorites in their NLCS game against the Phillies, they advanced to the World Series thanks to their favored method of wreaking havoc. Thus, it becomes clear that Heim is cautious of their running and has stated as much before tomorrow’s opening game:
“We are aware of the nature of that team. They like wreaking havoc on the bases and getting points in whatever manner they can.”
Jonah Heim is backed by the Rangers’ catching coach to win the World Series.
In the Texas Rangers’ first World Series since 2011, they get ready to take on the Arizona Diamondbacks. Rangers catching coach Bobby Wilson praised Jonah Heim in a speech on MLB Radio as we prepare for the series. Wilson says a World Series victory will solidify Heim’s status as one of the greatest catchers in Rangers history, and he feels the catcher should take home the Golden Glove trophy this season.
