Midway through the month of September, 10 Tampa Bay reported that the city of Tampa had received a request to demolish the 1.25 acre lot. Local real estate agent Cristan Fadal informed the media that the lot might accommodate multiple dwellings.

The residential demolition permit application “is still pending electrical and gas sign-off,” Dave Jennings, operations manager for the Tampa city council, told Insider on September 23.

The seaside mansion sold in May 2021 for $22.5 million, and if the proposal is approved, it would be demolished.

Before relocating to Miami, Jeter and his family spent nearly six years in the mansion, which was located in the Davis Islands area.

According to a February 2011 New York Times article, Jeter spent two years building the mansion on three adjacent sites he purchased for $7.7 million in 2005 and 2006. The home is one of the largest in the area and has earned the nickname “St. Jetersberg” from the locals.

In 2011, former New York Yankees cochairman Hank Steinbrenner commented on the team’s performance, claiming that some players were “too busy building mansions and doing other things and not concentrating on winning,” according ESPN. This criticism made Jeter’s mansion a topic of conversation.

According to the Miami Herald, Jeter and his family settled into a property in Coconut Grove shortly after he took over as CEO of the Miami Marlins in September 2017. In March of this year, Jeter announced his resignation.

Insider reached out to a Jeter spokesman for comment, but we did not hear back from them.

According to ESPN, the Bradys relocated to the area after Brady signed a two-year, $50 million contract with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

A Coldwell Banker realtor named Jennifer Zales told the Tampa Bay Times in April 2020 that rent for a house of this size could cost “$75,000 a month or more,” however it is unknown how much Brady really paid.
