Shohei Ohtani is valued at $600M, but Derek Jeter laments that ‘he’s missing playing in the postseason’ as a major factor in his Major League Baseball career

Derek Jeter, a Yankees veteran, recently spoke with Steve Serby of the New York Post about Angels superstar Shohei Ohtani. While acknowledging Ohtani’s tremendous abilities, Jeter noted that he had yet to reach the postseason in his professional career.

Jeter suggested that a postseason appearance might be the crowning achievement of Ohtani’s career.

According to Jeter:

Ohtani is a fantastic baseball player, but he has yet to show his worth on the major league level. This feat, accomplished in the World Baseball Classic, undoubtedly increased his profile. But I think he misses playing in the postseason, so I hope he gets that chance wherever he goes.

The Los Angeles Angels have not made the postseason during Ohtani’s time with the team despite his many accomplishments, which include an AL MVP award.

Many people are wondering if, once his contract is up, Ohtani would look for a new team that has a better chance of making the playoffs. Numerous MLB experts agree that the staggering sum of $600,000,000 would be required to sign Shohei Ohtani.

The Yankees great was also pressed on the topic of Ohtani potentially signing with their New York City rivals, the Mets. He deftly avoided answering the question.

You know I don’t talk about what-ifs,” Jeter stated.

Jeter was wary about Ohtani’s ability to deal with New York City’s intensity.

What Jeter Said

I think he’d be аlright, but I cаn’t sаy fоr sure. New Yоrk City is unique in its оwn wаy.

The five-time World Series winner acknowledged that the unique energy of New York City might make the game feel quite different.
