Dell Curry, father of NBA superstar Stephen Curry, recently shared details about his life post-divorce from Sonya Curry in an interview with the Charlotte Observer.
Dell Curry revealed that he has taken the step of remarrying after his public divorce with Sonya. Despite initially contemplating a move to the West Coast following the divorce, he chose to stay in his current location. Fate led him to a chance encounter with his now-wife, Nicki. Dell recalled how he had spoken to her on the phone for a month before they finally met in person. The connection was undeniable, and Dell knew he wanted to be with her. Although he had previously decided not to remarry, he expressed that life is currently in an excellent place, and he couldn’t be happier.
Sonya and Dell Curry’s nearly 30-year marriage came to an end in 2021 when they filed for divorce after a period of trial separation. In a joint statement, the couple expressed their commitment to their children and grandchildren and requested privacy. Initially, their divorce appeared contentious, with Dell accusing Sonya of infidelity with former NFL player Steven Johnson. Sonya, in response, stated that her relationship with Johnson had started after their separation in 2020 and claimed that Dell had also been involved in multiple affairs during their marriage.
Despite the recent personal challenges, Dell Curry is content in his new relationship. As a legendary figure for the Charlotte Hornets, known for his shooting skills, he left a significant mark on the NBA during his playing days with the Hornets, Raptors, Bucks, Cavaliers, and Jazz. Known for his deadly shooting ability, Dell Curry set the stage for his sons, Seth and Stephen Curry, who have continued his legacy as elite shooters in the NBA. While Seth is recognized as one of the most efficient three-point shooters in the league, Stephen is widely regarded as one of the greatest shooters in NBA history.
