The Warriors made a switch after playing only two preseason games with Steph Curry and Chris Paul on the court together before making the decision.
During the Warriors’ victory over the Los Angeles Lakers on Friday night, Curry scored 18 points in 21 minutes, while Paul scored six points in 20 minutes. The game ended with the Warriors winning 129-125.
On Sunday, when the Warriors took the court against the Kings for the first time since the conclusion of the NBA Playoffs, they started the game with rookie Brandin Podziemski at point guard, along with Klay Thompson, Andrew Wiggins, Jonathan Kuminga, and Kevon Looney.
Kuminga, who is currently atop the NBA scoring charts with 25 points per game through the first two games of the preseason, also leads the Warriors in minutes played with 51.
With a time of 50 minutes, Podziemski is in second place. The head coach, Steve Kerr, has remarked that the young player, who is only 20 years old, is intelligent beyond his years and “has a knack” for comprehending the sport on a sophisticated level.
On Sunday, neither Cory Joseph, who has been out with a back ailment, nor Rodney McGruder, who is participating in the concussion protocol, will play because they are both in the protocol. Joseph is anticipated to participate at some time before the first game of the season after making his comeback to practice just the previous week.
Draymond Green is still sidelined with an ankle ailment, and it is unknown whether or not he will be able to play in the season opener on October 24 against the Suns.
