As he prepares to begin his 21st NBA season, LeBron James is obviously considering what he wants to do with his life beyond basketball. James, who will turn 40 in December, already has a strong business resume, with his production company, SpringHill Entertainment, serving as its flagship.
It’s common knowledge that James wants to play alongside his son Bronny for a while more before he retires. Before he retires, James would like to complete this task. Finally, James’s initial ambitious plan for the years following his retirement is starting to come to fruition.
James has indicated an interest in buying a team in Las Vegas whenever he retires from the NBA. He emphasized in an interview conducted on Monday after the Los Angeles Lakers’ preseason victory over the Brooklyn Nets that he hopes to eventually own a team in the city of Las Vegas.
When asked if he thought the National Basketball Association would eventually move to Las Vegas, James said, “I think it’s only a matter of time, and I hope I’m part of that time.”
If the National Basketball Association is successful in renegotiating its television contract in 2025, it intends to consider the prospect of growing the league. It is projected that construction on a brand-new basketball arena in Las Vegas will begin in 2026. All-Star Weekend has previously taken place in Vegas, which also serves as the host city for the NBA’s annual summer league and the US national team’s training camp.
It looks like Seattle and Las Vegas will soon be added to the NBA’s roster of expansion cities.
Once the game was over and news of James’ postgame remarks started to circulate, he tweeted this.
James is not new to the ownership of sports teams. He actually owns a portion of the Fenway Sports Group, which also owns Liverpool FC, the Pittsburgh Penguins, and the Boston Red Sox.
Michael Jordan’s wealth is mostly derived from the sale of an NBA team. LeBron James will be the next guy to play.
