The Dodgers’ three main reasons for losing to the Arizona Diamondbacks in the NLDS

When the Arizona Diamondbacks swept the Los Angeles Dodgers in the NLDS, the Dodgers’ 2023 season came to an abrupt end

What happened is the basic question that most Dodger supporters are asking themselves. The Dodgers were the better team in the regular season. Everyone anticipated that the Dodgers would easily defeat the Diamondbacks in the NLDS.

Nonetheless, the following factors contributed to the Dodgers’ collapse in the NLDS:

1. The sackingNo team can perform well after six days off. The Atlanta Braves are about to be eliminated, while the Texas Rangers have already taken out the Baltimore Orioles. The Houston Astros were the only team to make it to the ALCS after being laid off. The playoff system in Major League Baseball needs to be changed, and its top clubs should no longer be penalized. The Dodgers attempted, of course, to simulate games and training, but to no avail.

2. The Front of the OrderBetween them, Freddie Freeman and Mookie Betts only managed one hit. With their two best players out of the picture, the Dodgers cannot win a game. These athletes were accustomed to playing every day, but the layoff prevented them from doing so. They became rusty and began to press. They took swings at balls and struck out.

Will Smith, who had four hits in the series, was the only Dodger batter to profit from the lengthy layoff.

3. The Initial ProposalThe Dodger bullpen was outstanding, but the starting pitchers fell short of expectations. When starters give up 13 runs in three games and barely last 4.2 innings, no club can win. Although the Dodgers’ offensive output was pitiful, it was unable to compensate for the incompetence of the starters.

Although a lot of Dodger supporters want Dave Roberts fired, Roberts did a fantastic job managing the series. He did not bat or pitch. He was proficient with his fantastic bullpen. Where batters would be most successful, he attempted to pair them with pitchers. It did not, however, work.
