Warriors’ Steph Curry receives top honors in NBA GMs poll
– Best point guard – Best at moving without the ball
– Best pure shooter
– Player they would want taking a shot with the game on the line
– Player that forces opposing coaches to make the most adjustments
On Tuesday, the results of the annual NBA GM poll were made public. The results of the poll showed the general managers’ perspectives on a wide range of issues pertaining to the NBA, such as their expectations for the 2023–2024 season, who they believe is the best player at each position, and many other issues. Steph Curry, point guard for the Golden State Warriors, emerged as one of the most popular players in the poll. He received the most votes in response to five of the questions asked in the survey.
The general managers first listed Curry as the player who “forces opposing coaches to make the most adjustments.” Curry received forty percent of the vote. There were also votes cast for superstars like as Nikola Jokic, Giannis Antetokounmpo, Luka Doncic, and Joel Embiid. According to John Schuhmann of NBA.com, Steph Curry won this title again the previous year, when he garnered 52% of the vote among general managers.
It should not come as a surprise that Curry also won the award for “best point guard,” receiving 63% of the total vote. In the survey from the previous year, he received 72% of the votes, therefore this result is a little bit lower. Other players who received votes in this category include Luka Doncic, Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, and Damian Lillard.
Curry received at least 90 percent of the votes for a second consecutive season, making him the clear front-runner for the title of greatest pure shooter in the NBA. This is the second season in a row that Curry has won this award. He also received the most votes for the player that general managers would want to take a shot with the game on the line, raking in 37% of the votes while Kevin Durant came in second with 27% of the votes. He also garnered the most votes for the player that general managers would want to take a shot with the game on the line. In the end, 73% of the votes were cast in favor of him being “best at moving without the ball.”
The fact that Steph Curry was able to repeat his success from the previous year and take home all five of these awards demonstrates that he is still one of the best players in the game. In addition to that, it is noteworthy that he finished in second place for “best leader,” and he was in the running to be the player general managers would sign first if they were beginning a new organization.
