Tyler Herro, a Heat guard, is shot by the Blazers

Tyler Herro’s name was the only one floated in a Blazers Damian Lillard deal throughout the summer, and he has since responded to all of the talk.

Herro was involved in every trade possibility that was discussed, and for a time there, it appeared certain that Dame would end up in Miami.

However, Herro has stated unequivocally that Lillard was moved to the Bucks and that the Blazers would not have been his dream team.

“I’m relieved Portland didn’t want me because I didn’t want to go there. Herro stated to the Sun Sentinel of South Florida. “I simply cannot bear to stay in Portland. Thus, it has nothing to do with Portland personally.

Before breaking his hand in the opening round of the playoffs against the Bucks, the 23-year-old was a key member of the Heat’s run to the Finals the previous season. He was selected by the team in the 2019 NBA Draft.

The narrative that the squad didn’t even need Herro and that he should be traded was quickly started by some fans and media figures because the team was able to come so close to winning a championship without him.

“I mean, I’m not really sure what changed,” he remarked at a Florida Atlantic University Heat camp. “We went for a run, of course, after I got hurt. I’m not sure if that altered people’s opinions of my worth or the way I play. Nothing is different. Nothing has grown worse for me. I’ve only become older, wiser, and more accomplished.

“And without me, our squad didn’t improve; instead, we just started making more shots and shooting better. We missed all of the year’s shots. Additionally, I’m the team’s best shot. Therefore, I don’t believe that my absence had an impact on our shooting %. I believe we simply began taking pictures.

He is eager to return to his position at Miami despite all the commotion.

Herro remarked, “I’m just happy to be on the court.” It’s been April since I last played. I’m prepared to play because I haven’t played since breaking my hand.

During the regular season, the guard averaged 20.1 points, 5.4 rebounds, 4.2 assists, and 37.8 percent shooting from three point range per game.
