Dodgers: From 100 wins back to zero

ANGELES, CA Alright, so do you think the Diamondbacks from Arizona are real?

With a 4-2 victory over the Los Angeles Dodgers on Monday night, the D-backs continued their magical revenge tour through the postseason. They are now just one win away from making it to the National League Championship Series for just the third time in franchise history.

With two games remaining in the best-of-five NL Division Series, the D-backs have the opportunity to seal the series at Chase Field in Phoenix on Wednesday or Thursday, capping up an incredible postseason run.

The D-backs were being swept by the Houston Astros to end the regular season when they last played in Phoenix. Despite the setback, they still managed to secure the final wild-card slot and celebrated with a pool party.

Since then, they have visited Milwaukee, defeated the Brewers in the NL wild-card series, and now destroyed the Dodgers, leaving the 51,449 sold-out crowd at Dodger Stadium silent.

Major League Baseball managers receive glaringly low compensation.

Perhaps the story that the Diamondbacks are those brave little underdogs should be abandoned.

Torey Lovullo, manager of the Diamondbacks, stated, “We hear the talk.” We may just be the small annoyance that everyone enjoys picking on here.

“We interpret that as personal. We accept it.

We are aware that we haven’t accomplished as much as some of the teams receiving more recognition, like the Dodgers, Astros, or some other clubs.

“But we like it that way—we’re here, prepared to compete.”

They have undoubtedly been impolite visitors to the Dodgers starting rotation, humiliating three-time Cy Young winner Clayton Kershaw in the first game and torturing rookie starter Bobby Miller in the second.

After just 1 2/3 innings, the Diamondbacks forced Miller out of the game after allowing three runs and four hits.

The starting lineup for the Dodgers following their opening two games:. 10 hits, 9 earned runs, 40.50 ERA in 2 innings.

For 48 out of the 54 outs in this series, they have been forced to employ their bullpen.

Dodgers manager Dave Roberts stated, “You just can’t survive to win 11 games in October by doing a bullpen every single [game].” It is simply not possible. It simply cannot be sustained. You need a guy that is capable of taking down outs.

In an effort to ensure that it doesn’t occur again in October of the following year, the Dodgers may have a very lengthy winter.
