Anthony Davis says he incorporated ‘a lot more reps’ on his jump shot this summer

Anthony Davis, a center for the Los Angeles Lakers, enjoyed arguably the best season of his career the previous summer, at least in terms of the statistical output of his game. He shot field goals at a 56.3% clip and pulled down 12.5 rebounds a game on average. If he had played in a sufficient number of games, he would have been recognized as the official leader in the NBA’s rebounding per game category. He averaged 25.9 points.

Anthony Davis says he incorporated “a lot more reps” on his jump shot this summer, including taking different shots from different spots and angles than he is accustomed to, in order to bring back that aspect of his offensive repertoire

However, one area in which he has had a great deal of difficulty in the most recent seasons is his shooting from the perimeter.

Davis hit only 23.8 percent of his 3-point shot attempts throughout the course of the previous three seasons, despite the fact that he shot extremely well from 3-point range during the second half of the 2019-20 season and the whole postseason.

However, Austin Reaves stated that Davis’ shooting from the outside was remarkable during a recent minicamp that was organized by LeBron James. This was something that was confirmed in a recent story that was written by Jovan Buha of The Athletic. Indeed, the superstar big man spoke on how he worked on his jump shot throughout the summer during the media day that took place on Monday.

If Davis shoots even just the league average on three-point attempts during the course of this coming season, the rest of the NBA is going to have an even harder time containing him than they had the year before. This is because he is so dangerous offensively.
