In practice, Jimmy Butler displays playoff-caliber intensity towards his Miami Heat teammates

When given the chance, Jimmy Butler never fails to steal the show, both on and off the court. Off the court, Butler gained notoriety earlier this week when he appeared at NBA Media Day sporting a “emo” look. Then he declared that he was still the world’s greatest basketball player.

His Miami Heat are entering a season with extremely high expectations on the court. Before reaching the NBA Finals in 2023, Miami was the top seed in the East in 2022. The Heat retained their core from their Finals success and added UCLA forward Jaime Jaquez through the draft, even though they failed to sign Damian Lillard.

In their mid-30s in particular, veterans prefer to take it easy in practice, but Butler has shown time and time again that he is wired differently than other players. Butler seemed to be set for this season after making remarks about how great he is and seeing this tape.

The forward just finished his most productive season, averaging the second-best points per game of his career while shooting 53.9% from the field and 35% from three-point range.

The Heat will always believe they can defeat any NBA club while Butler is leading the group.
