Cam Reddish suffers ankle injury in Lakers’ preseason opener

The Los Angeles Lakers kicked off their preseason campaign against the Golden State Warriors, but the game was marred by an unfortunate injury to Lakers wing Cam Reddish.

The Lakers took to the court for their preseason opener with LeBron James sidelined, opting for a starting lineup that included D’Angelo Russell, Gabe Vincent, Rui Hachimura, Jarred Vanderbilt, and Anthony Davis. While preseason games may not carry the weight of regular-season contests, they provide players with a platform to showcase their skills and vie for spots in the regular rotation.

Cam Reddish, who joined the Lakers as a free agent this offseason, was one such player looking to make an impression. However, his preseason debut took a turn for the worse as he left the game due to an injury. Reddish’s journey to the Lakers followed a stint with the New York Knicks and the Portland Trail Blazers last season. He fell out of favor in the Knicks’ rotation, leading to a mid-season trade that involved the Blazers, Charlotte Hornets, and Philadelphia 76ers.

During the previous season, Reddish averaged 9.7 points per game, along with 2.2 rebounds, 1.4 assists, and 1.0 steals. He posted shooting splits of 44.6 percent from the field, 31.3 percent from beyond the arc, and 85.3 percent from the free-throw line across 40 games, playing for both the Knicks and the Blazers.
