In a tweet, Joey Votto expressed gratitude to Cincinnati Reds supporters for their “amazing support” of the team during his 17th MLB season and as a Red.
Votto wrote, “We didn’t get to thank you Reds fans for your amazing support of our team this year.” “You went above and beyond, and I brag’d about you to new teammates early in the season. You were a benchwarmer. Thank you, we felt you all year.”
When questioned on Sunday about his future, the six-time All-Star and seasoned first baseman stated he was “still not there yet.”He expressed regret to the crowd for getting kicked out of what would have been his last Reds game.
During the last home game of the season, Votto was given a standing ovation and curtain call by the Great American Ball Park crowd, which he described as “overwhelming” and a “humbling experience.”
This previous season, in 242 plate appearances, Votto hit.202 with 14 home runs.
