Before the start of the 2023–2024 NBA season, which will take place this month, LeBron James gave an interview in which he discussed the reasons why he considers Anthony Davis to be the face of the organization for the Los Angeles Lakers.
Anthony Davis has been referred to as “the face” of the Los Angeles Lakers by NBA superstar LeBron James, who plays for the same franchise.
James and the rest of his teammates have started getting ready for the 2023–2024 NBA season, which will start at the end of October. This will be the 38-year-old player’s 21st season in the league, and he is getting ready to compete for the title of league champion for the fourth time in his career.
Since Davis was moved to the Los Angeles Lakers from the New Orleans Pelicans in 2019, the Lakers forward has been one of Davis’s teammates. Davis was moved to Los Angeles in a trade. Since then, both of them have gone on to become prominent players in the NBA, first for the Los Angeles Lakers and subsequently for the league overall.

James has been one of the most famous players in basketball for nearly twenty years, but Davis, according to James, is the franchise player for the Lakers and should be treated as such. James is a 19-time NBA All-Star. James gave his explanation on why Davis is such a crucial player for Darvin Ham’s club during Monday’s press conference at the team’s media day.
James was quoted as saying to ESPN, “He is the face [of the franchise].” “You look at all these [retired] numbers that surround this facility, and all the greats that have come here, and AD is one of them.”
Additionally, James was questioned regarding the new deal that Davis inked with the Lakers during the offseason. On August 4, it was reported that the 30-year-old player had signed a contract extension with the Lakers that would last for three more years.
Davis’s previous contract in Los Angeles had already two years left on it, and the extension extends the length of time he is obligated to play for the Lakers all the way until the end of the 2027/28 NBA season. Because of the extension, Davis will receive an additional £154million ($186m), bringing his total compensation to £223million ($270m) over the course of the next five years.
James responded to the question regarding Davis’ contract extension by saying that he was “extremely proud” and “very, very happy.” “It’s really nice to see him acquire that deal so that he can continue to be a part of his franchise for many, many years.
To this point, it has been a pleasure to perform alongside him, and I have high hopes for the future of our collaboration.
After this, James, Davis, and the rest of the Lakers will have a lot on their plates as they get ready for the start of the new NBA season. During the preseason, the Los Angeles Lakers will play games against the Brooklyn Nets, the Phoenix Suns, the Sacramento Kings, the Milwaukee Bucks, and they will play a pair of games versus the Golden State Warriors.
All of this will serve as the buildup to the opening night game, which will feature Nikola Jokic and the Denver Nuggets, who are the defending NBA champions. That game will be played between the Lakers and the Nuggets.
