Suddenly some idiot accused Stephen Curry of being paid $35 million by FTX

Stephen Curry allegedly received large sums of money from FTX

Curry joined the company in 2021 as a global ambassador and acquired stock in it at the same time.

“Stephen Curry, the NBA superstar, welcome to the FTX Team!  We are thrilled to announce that he has joined us as a stakeholder and FTX Global Ambassador. But, in FTX’s since-deleted tweet, “who better to announce it than @StephenCurry30 himself”?

Curry said in a news release at the time, “I’m excited to partner with a company that demystifies the crypto space and eliminates the intimidation factor for first-time users.” “FTX and I share a common interest in meaningfully contributing to the community, and I’m excited to see what we can accomplish together.”

Curry’s relationship with the company is no longer there. The collapse of the cryptocurrency exchange occurred in November 2022, as previously reported by AFROTECH.

FTX CEO Sam Bankman-Fried allegedly gave Curry $35 million, according to a new book written by best-selling author Michael Lewis.

Lewis discussed specifics of his book “Going Infinite: The Rise and Fall of a New Tycoon,” which centers on FTX and its charismatic creator, in an interview with “60 Minutes.”

Regarding Bankman-Fried, Lewis stated during the interview, “He turned to the sports world to bring his exchange both legitimacy and edge,” as reported by the San Francisco Examiner. “For three years, he gave Tom Brady $55 million in exchange for 20 hours a year. He gave Steph Curry $35 million in exchange for three years of the same thing.

Curry’s relationship with FTX is still rather unclear. In a class action lawsuit (2022) related to the exchange, he is also mentioned with Shaquille O’Neal and Naomi Osaka. According to the lawsuit, FTX’s celebrity endorsements were “fraudulent” and “meant to defraud naive investors from all over the nation who use mobile apps to make their investment decisions.”

According to Bloomberg, FTX most recently pursued its own lawsuit to recoup a portion of the money it lost on sponsorship or advertising agreements. According to court documents, Osaka, who allegedly received $308,333.34, and Shaquille O’Neal, who allegedly collected $749,999.93 from FTX, are among the named parties in the complaint brought by FTX.
