Eat. Learn. Play: Steph Curry and Ayesha Curry pledge $50 million to Oakland schools

In 2019, the Golden State Warriors made the high-profile move from Oakland to San Francisco, lured by the glitz, glamour, and financial opportunities of the new location. However, nearly four years later, one of the team’s biggest stars, Steph Curry, remains dedicated to his promise of never forgetting the community that played a pivotal role in his journey to NBA stardom.

Through their charitable foundation, “Eat. Learn. Play.,” which is led by Steph Curry and his wife, Ayesha Curry, the couple recently unveiled an ambitious initiative. Their goal is to raise and contribute more than $50 million to the Oakland Unified School District by 2026. This substantial commitment aims to empower local children, allowing them to “dream bigger” and realize their true potential.

Steph Curry emphasized the importance of providing these opportunities to children, especially those from Black and Brown communities, stating, “These kids deserve an opportunity to achieve their full potential.”

Ayesha Curry, co-founder of Eat. Learn. Play., highlighted the fundamental necessities that every child should have access to, including food, reading materials, and recreational opportunities. She expressed, “When you’re not afforded these things, it’s like, how can I even dream?”

Established in 2019, Eat. Learn. Play. was founded just before the Golden State Warriors’ relocation to San Francisco. The Currys take pride in fully covering the foundation’s operating costs, ensuring that all donated funds directly benefit Oakland’s youth, ultimately working to enhance their lives and futures.
