Stephen Curry ‘team captains’ with US president Joe Biden and Obama

President Joe Biden and basketball superstar Stephen Curry exuded a sense of purpose during the Golden State Warriors’ commemorative visit to the White House this Tuesday.

In a united display of camaraderie, both Biden and Curry took to their Instagram accounts to mark the occasion with the caption “Team Captains.”

Despite clinching NBA championships in 2017, 2018, and capping it off with another victory last year, Curry and his Golden State colleagues hadn’t graced the White House since their previous visits before the term of former President Donald Trump.

While it was never officially confirmed whether an invitation was extended by the Trump administration, Curry, aged 34, had expressed reservations about visiting at the time. His reluctance was sufficient for the former president to withdraw any potential invitation.

Reflecting on his childhood dreams of visiting the White House as “a kid growing up in Saginaw, Michigan,” Curry remarked, “I’ve been here twice now, and it’s still such an incredible feeling.”

Teammate Klay Thompson shared similar sentiments in a video released by the White House, stating, “It’s absolutely incredible to be the 2022 NBA champs, and it’s even better to be celebrating at the White House with the Vice President and the President.”

He continued, “This was a journey, and being here to celebrate feels like the icing on the cake.”
