The media that regularly covers the Texas Rangers selected Marcus Semien, second baseman, as the team’s Player of the Month for the months of September and October
The American League Wild Card series between the Rangers and Semien began on Tuesday, and now they are in Tampa Bay. With a 4-0 victory in Game 1, the Rangers took a 1-0 lead in the series. Despite being 0-for-4, Semien scored a run and drew a walk.

Semien pounded.282/.359/.581/.940 in the last month of the season, scoring 23 runs in 29 games, nine home runs, eight doubles, and 19 RBI.
Semien ended tied for second in the AL in hits with 33, and he also tied for first in home runs and runs.
With 29 home runs, four triples, 29 doubles, 100 RBI, and 122 runs, Semien slashed.276/.348/.478/.826 while playing in all 162 games. He is only the second player in team history (after Ruben Sierra, 1989) and the only Rangers player to do it this season.
His appearance in the All-Star Game was his second. He started the game as one of five Rangers position players.
With respect to hits, runs, plate appearances (first, club record 753), at-bats (first, 670), times on base (second, 262), total bases (second, 320), doubles (third), and RBI (tied for fourth) in the American League, he was ranked in the top three.
Semien also became the first player to lead the American League in hits and runs since Alfonso Soriano of the New York Yankees did so in 2002. Additionally, he became the first player since Josh Hamilton in 2012 to join Adolis García (108 runs/107 RBI) as the 12th and 13th players in Rangers history (19th & 20th instances) with at least 100 runs and 100 RBI in a season.
