The ego of Anthony Davis might be writing checks that his body is unable to cash
This week, star big man Anthony Davis of the Los Angeles Lakers disclosed to reporters his incredibly lofty personal objective for the 2023–24 campaign. Apparently, Davis wants to play in all 82 games, according to Brad Turner of the Los Angeles Times. The eight-time All-Star continued by saying he wants to be there for his teammates on the Lakers.
Although Davis should undoubtedly aim for it each and every season, it is not at all feasible for him to do so. The career high for the highly injury-prone big man is 75 games played, which he achieved twice while playing for the New Orleans Pelicans in 2016–17 and 2017–18. Davis has played a career-high 62 games with the Lakers (averaging 48 in the previous two seasons).
There is no reason to think that Davis has a greater chance of playing all 82 games because he will turn 31 in the middle of the upcoming season. However, Davis recently asked the Lakers for something very important that would at least assist him get to that ballpark.
