Anthony Davis, 30, is the face of the Los Angeles Lakers, according to LeBron James, who also called him a fantastic player.

In August 2022, Davis locked in his long-term future with the Lakers by agreeing to a three-year, 177 million dollar contract that would keep him with the team through 2025.

“He is the face [of the franchise],” James declared on Monday during NBA Media Day.

With his remarks, James seemed to be considering life after the NBA, but statistics support the idea that Davis is prepared to succeed the former Cleveland Cavaliers player.

Davis led the Lakers in win shares in 2022–2023 with a score of 9.0, which was around 3.4 more than any other Lakers player.

Additionally, he and James both earned competitive Value Over Replacement Player scores of 4.0.
