Major League Baseball’s top jersey seller in 2023 is Shohei Ohtani

Over the course of the 2023 season, Shohei Ohtani’s popularity among Los Angeles Angels fans led to him being the most popular player in terms of jersey sales.

Ohtani defeated players like Mike Trout, Matt Olson, Julio Rodríguez, Ronald Acuña Jr., Aaron Judge, Fernando Tatis Jr., Mookie Betts, and Matt Olson with yet another spectacular performance as the team’s Most Valuable Player. They all completed the MLB top 10.

Ohtani was in the top ten in 2021 as well as in 2018, but this is the first year that he has been ranked #1. He is the first player from Japan to have the highest total jersey sales ranking.

Since making his Major League Baseball debut in 2012, Trout has consistently been listed among the top jersey sellers.

Ohtani hardly dominant but has enough to beat road-weary Giants

With four players ranked in the top 20, the Atlanta Braves were the team with the greatest representation on the most popular jersey list. A large amount of fan popularity has accompanied their ascent to the top of baseball’s record, and this has translated into sales of memorabilia.

Ohtani is expected to win his second MVP crown, therefore the Angels will once again have the finest player in the league.

Shohei Ohtani has a devoted fan base that supports him no matter what. With his extensive fan base, Ohtani is the obvious leader, surpassing all other major league players by a significant margin with 5.9 million Instagram followers. When the Angels aren’t playing particularly well, there isn’t much support for the club without the hype of his fan base.

Will Shohei Ohtani accept that Angels can't be fixed, choose Giants?

That isn’t helped by Mike Trout’s absence, but Ohtani’s devoted fan following has left a lasting effect both at home Angel Stadium and on the road.

Ohtani played as well as it gets in the 2023 World Baseball Classic, ultimately winning the WBC final against Trout and Team USA. It was a picture-perfect moment for Team Japan and attracted spectators from all over the world.
