I want to compete for Team USA in the 2024 Olympics in Paris, says Stephen Curry

It appears that Team USA’s strong hitters plan to play for their nation in France the following year, following their disappointing fourth-place showing in the 2023 FIBA World Cup.

LeBron James expressed his desire to play in the upcoming season, a sentimeđťš—t he expressed earlier during the Los Angeles Lakers’ media day. Meanwhile, three-time Olympic gold medalist Kevin Durant confirmed he will be competing for Team USA in the hopes of capturing an unprecedented (at least for the međťš—’s division—Diana Taurasi and Sue Bird have won five, while Teresa Edwards has won four) fourth gold medal. While Stephen Curry has accomplished everything possible in basketball over the course of his stellar 14-year career, he has not only never won a gold medal. He has also never competed in an Olympics.

Curry has international experience, but the last time he participated in the FIBA World Cup was in 2014, the year Team USA won the competition. That was almost ten years ago. There’s no denying that this Curry, despite his age and diminished quickness and agility, would cause havoc in the international style of play. It would be difficult for defenses to monitor him constantly, and there is a claim that no one outside of America is genuinely capable of doing so.

In addition, Team USA would be the clear favorites to win another Olympic gold medal if you include in the names of James, Durant, Jayson Tatum, Devin Booker, Bam Adebayo, and Anthony Davis in addition to Curry.

To play, though, requires having the will and intention to do so. Curry has declared that this is the one honor he still hasn’t received and that he plans to be there in the event that everything works out.

If there are no unfavorable circumstances, like injuries, Curry seems certain to make it to the Olympics. It will be difficult to turn down the chance to represent his nation while playing with two of his contemporaries from this generation, James and Durant.
