Anthony Davis is in the best shape of his career

As the start of training camp approaches, many are having high expectations for the Lakers. While they may not be the undisputed favorites to win the NBA title, the team is firmly positioned as a top contender.

As is customary, much of the Lakers’ success falls on the shoulders of two stars: LeBron James and Anthony Davis. For them, the primary key will be their health. Can they remain relatively injury-free throughout the season?

Davis has been heavily criticized in recent years due to his unavailability. However, recent rumors indicate that he is heading into Lakers training camp in the “best shape of his life.” Additionally, during a minicamp hosted by LeBron James, there were reports that Davis was shooting very well from the perimeter, corroborating an earlier statement made by Austin Reaves.

DAVIS IS READY TO HAVE A TOP-LEVEL SEASON WITH THE LAKERS

According to Jovan Buha of The Athletic: “Lakers training camp officially begins Tuesday morning… The talk in the hallways is that Davis, who has seen his three-point shooting decline since his best performance of the 2019 season- 20, is in the best shape of his life and is shooting the ball at similar levels to his previous levels.”

It’s important to note that Davis was already coming off an impressive season, at least in statistical terms. Although his long-distance shot wasn’t as sharp, he averaged 25.9 points and 12.5 rebounds per game, with an impressive 56.3% shooting percentage from the field. The prospect of Davis getting into excellent shape and improving his long-range shooting accuracy is cause for concern for the rest of the NBA.

It is worth remembering that during the 2020 playoffs, he achieved a success rate of 38.3% in his three-point shot attempts, contributing significantly to the Lakers winning the championship that season.
