Wayne Ellington on board as a member ofMiami coaching staff

The Miami Heat have officially brought Wayne Ellington on board as a member of their coaching staff. Ellington, a former standout in UNC basketball, will assume the role of Player Development Coach for the franchise.

Having been selected as the 28th overall pick in the 2009 NBA Draft, Ellington enjoyed a remarkable 13-season career in the NBA, representing nine different teams, including a notable two-and-a-half-year tenure with the Heat.

Ellington first joined the Heat as a free agent in 2016, and during his brief stay with the franchise, he made a significant impact. Over the course of 164 regular season games with the Heat, the former Tar Heel displayed his sharpshooting prowess by shooting 38.4 percent from beyond the arc. Notably, he set a franchise record during the 2017-2018 season by making 227 three-pointers, a record that has since been surpassed.

With his playing days behind him, Wayne Ellington is now eager to transition into a coaching role. This marks his inaugural coaching position in the NBA, and his wealth of professional experience and basketball knowledge is expected to be a valuable asset to the Heat as they strive for another shot at an NBA championship in the upcoming season.
