The NBA has its sights set on the future, particularly for the 2024-25 season, with a significant decision regarding one of the most anticipated events of the year.
According to Shams Charania of The Athletic, the league is closing in on a plan to hold the 2025 NBA All-Star Game at the Chase Center in San Francisco, home of the Golden State Warriors. In the upcoming year, the 2024 NBA All-Star Game is scheduled to be hosted in Indianapolis, with the Indiana Pacers taking center stage.
The last time the Warriors hosted All-Star Weekend was in 2000 when they played at the Oracle Arena in Oakland. During the summer, there were speculations that Golden State was eager to once again host this mid-season extravaganza, especially to showcase the state-of-the-art Chase Center, which has graced the San Francisco bay area for a few seasons now.
Despite the Warriors’ consistent championship success and the immense popularity of two-time MVP Stephen Curry, they have rapidly risen to become one of the NBA’s most iconic franchises. They consistently rank among the leaders in ticket sales, merchandise sales, and broadcast viewership. These factors make them a compelling choice for hosting All-Star Weekend.
The Golden State Warriors have made bids to host the All-Star festivities several times over the years, dating back to their days at the Oracle Arena. In June, C.J. Holmes of the San Francisco Chronicle reported that the Warriors, along with other cities like Phoenix, Milwaukee, and Los Angeles, were preparing bids to submit to the league. Looking even further ahead, the Boston Celtics and owner Wyc Grousbeck are already expressing interest in hosting the 2026 All-Star Game.
