The season of NBA leaks is here, and we’re starting things off big. the Los Angeles Lakers City Edition outfit for 2023–24.
We can see that the Lakers will be wearing a black jersey with purple-black-purple striping around the collar and each arm thanks to a Tweet/X from @Skunwong32, a dependable source of NBA uniform leaks in the past. The wordmark “LOS ANGELES” is displayed in a yellow pyramid shape on the chest, with the letter “N” serving as the top. “LAKERS” is displayed below in a straight line, along with the player’s number (in this example, LeBron James’ number 23) in purple with yellow trim.
Look at this:
This pyramid technique is reminiscent of a shirt worn by some early Los Angeles Lakers players in the 1960s, as I pointed out in the graphic above. The Lakers revived it for their “Mixtape” uniform, which was worn on the sides of the shorts and on the front of the team’s shooting shirts during the NBA’s 75th anniversary season in 2021–2022.

The Lakers’ “City Edition” set from the previous season, an essentially unremarkable white jersey with “LOS ANGELES” written across the chest in purple and black numerals and trim, will be replaced by an all-black outfit.
To refresh your memory, this is how that appeared:

All-Time Los Angeles Lakers Logo History
Since the Los Angeles Lakers moved from Minneapolis to California in 1960, the team has utilized two different logo designs.
The original Lakers logo, a double-blue image with LAKERS emphasized across a basketball, was a temporary creation used while the team established itself in its new market. This basic concept evolved into the more recognizable emblem that has been linked to the Lakers for a long time: a gold basketball with the word “LAKERS” inscribed over it in “Forum Blue” (now “purple”) lettering with speed lines. The Lakers have changed the colors of this identical design on multiple occasions over the years, which has resulted in the current logo that features the new, slightly altered colors that will be used for the 2023–24 season.
