Atlanta Braves join elite 300-Homer club in MLB history

The Atlanta Braves continue to make history during their remarkable 2023 MLB season, solidifying their place among the elite by becoming just the third team in MLB history to reach the prestigious 300-home run mark in a single season.

This impressive achievement unfolded during a thrilling 7-6 victory over the Chicago Cubs.

The Braves’ journey to this milestone was nothing short of extraordinary. Despite a sluggish start against the visiting Chicago Cubs, where they trailed 0-6 entering the bottom of the sixth inning, the Braves proved their resilience and prowess. Pitcher Bryce Elder faced early struggles, conceding seven hits and five earned runs in just 3.2 innings of work, raising doubts about their chances.

However, the Braves, led by manager Brian Snitker, showed their mettle as they launched a remarkable comeback. Kevin Pillar’s solo home run in the sixth inning marked the 300th homer of their season, an achievement shared with only two other teams in MLB history: the 2019 New York Yankees and the Minnesota Twins.

Ronald Acuna, Jr., a top contender for the 2023 NL MVP title, further fueled the excitement with the Braves’ 301st home run, closing the gap to 6-5 in the seventh inning. Ultimately, the Braves secured a 7-6 victory, thanks in part to a colossal fielding error by the Chicago Cubs’ Seiya Suzuki in the eighth inning.

With just five regular-season games remaining, the Braves are on the verge of eclipsing the all-time home run record set by the 2019 Minnesota Twins, who registered a staggering 307 homers. Atlanta’s powerful lineup, featuring the likes of Ronald Acuna, Jr., Matt Olson, Austin Riley, and Marcell Ozuna, is poised to continue their home run spree.

Notably, the Braves’ roster boasts another unique achievement this season as they became the first team in MLB history to feature four players, including Acuna, Olson, Riley, and Ozuna, each with at least 35 home runs. This incredible feat solidifies their reputation as one of the most formidable and record-breaking teams in recent memory.

As the regular season nears its conclusion, baseball enthusiasts eagerly anticipate whether the Braves will etch their name in the record books once again by surpassing the Twins’ home run record. Regardless of the outcome, the Atlanta Braves have undeniably left an indelible mark on the 2023 MLB season, rewriting history with their awe-inspiring power at the plate.
