Matt Olson continues to rewrite Atlanta Braves’ record books with most RBIs in the Atlanta era

In a season filled with historic moments, Matt Olson added another remarkable achievement to his impressive 2023 campaign by becoming the Atlanta Braves’ RBI king in the Atlanta era.

On a memorable Sunday, Olson secured his 133rd RBI of the season with a powerful double against the Washington Nationals, surpassing the previous record held by Gary Sheffield, who notched 132 RBIs back in 2003.

This record-breaking feat comes on the heels of Olson’s earlier accomplishment of breaking Andruw Jones’ franchise record for home runs. Jones, a legendary Braves outfielder, still maintains a prominent presence in the franchise’s record books, ranking third and fourth on the all-time RBI list. Hank Aaron, another Braves legend, secured 127 RBIs during his impressive 1966 season, securing his place in the top five of this prestigious list.

With his 133 RBIs in the 2023 season, Matt Olson now stands firmly in third place in franchise history. The second spot is held by Eddie Mathews, who registered an astounding 135 RBIs while playing for the Milwaukee Braves in the iconic 1953 season. The all-time franchise leader in RBIs is Hugh Duffy, who remarkably tallied 145 RBIs back in 1894 while playing for the Boston Braves, etching his name in baseball history.

Matt Olson’s incredible season continues to captivate baseball fans, and his relentless pursuit of excellence has firmly established him as one of the Atlanta Braves’ all-time greats. As he continues to make history with every at-bat, fans eagerly anticipate what other records he might shatter before the season’s end.
