As the tension between the Trail Blazers and the Heat grows, the team prepares a backup plan in case Lillard is traded

The Portland Trail Blazers and NBA free agency are still actively negotiating an exit for star point guard Damian Lillard.j

He was supposed to join the Miami Heat, but the deal has stalled as the two teams try to come to an agreement on conditions.

The Portland team will now try to initiate contact with other teams that share their interest in Lillard.

At least two teams have shown interest in acquiring Lillard from the Trail Blazers.

According to Jake Fischer of Yahoo! Sports, “at this point, Toronto and Chicago have been the two possible destinations for Lillard discussed most by league figures.”

Like the Cavaliers’ unexpecteԀ signing of Donovan Mitchell in September, the Raptors have many options to consider, making them a serious contender to sign Lillard besides the Heat.

In the same way that rookie wings Ochai Agbaji and Walker Kessler served as additional draft compensation in Utah’s returns for Mitchell and Rudy Gobert, respectively, last offseason, sources claimed that any deal with Toronto might include recent first-round selection Gradey Ԁick.
