LeBron James, who is now 20 years into probably the most decorated career in NBA history, will try to keep defying Father Time in his 21st season as a starter in 2023-24. And if a new video is any indication, he shows no signs of fatigue at the age of 38, unlike practically every other athlete in history.
You can view a video of LeBron looking fit and practicing his dribble shot and catch-and-shoot down below.
LeBron James has entered his late 30s, so it’s understandable that he’s become more ιnjury prone. However, in the 55 games he was able to play last season, he still averaged 28.9 points, 8.3 rebounds, and 6.9 assists, and he casually dropped a 40-10-9 statline in the Lakers’ final game of the season.
In his 20th season, Kobe Bryant is second all-time in points per game. His score was 17.6. After that, the only players to score in double figures in their 20th season are Dirk Nowitzki (12.0) and Kareem Abdul-Jabbar (10.1). Obviously, a score of 28.9 is quite exceptional.
LeBron’s lead as the NBA’s all-time leader in seasons played is poised to grow even larger in his 21st year. Bryant and Abdul-Jabbar retired after the aforementioned 20th year, and Nowitzki’s production plummeted the next year, so that Vince Carter led the league in scoring with 7.4 points per game in his 21st campaign. From the looks of that video, LeBron James is about 400% set to shatter that record.
