Anthony Rendon has been a regular omission from the Los Angeles Angels starting lineup because of a persistent leg injury; he hasn’t played since their July 4th game against the San Diego Padres.
The Angels described Rendon’s injury as a “significant bone bruise” after he fouled a ball off his left leg, and they have subsequently moved many of their efforts to fill his position. Both Eduardo Escobar and Mike Moustakas were purchased to give manager Phil Nevin options.
Without any new information regarding the expensive third baseman, the timeline grew longer. On Friday at Angel Stadium, Rendon spoke with reporters.
The mystery surrounding how this injury was treated is strange, given that he has three years left on his seven-year, $245 million contract. The number of games Rendon has missed since being out is even more upsetting.
The Angels paid Rendon for his 30th season and beyond, but because they are currently on the back end of that contract, the return hasn’t been there and never will be. The terrible course of his term could be attributed to a financial setback.
C.J. Cron starts playing baseball and wants to rejoin the Angels’ lineup
Cron first went on the 10-day disabled list for lower-back irritation, and after 50 plate appearances, while wearing an Angels uniform, he passed away from the condition. Since joining the squad, the 33-year-old has batted just.217/.280/.283, with just one home run and five RBI.
Make a return with just over two weeks remaining in the regular season.
Nolan Schanuel’s ascent has given the team not only a strong bat but also a glimpse into the future. Since Cron joined the Angels on an expiring deal, he is not currently bound to the team beyond this season.
