After reportedly punching his partner following a soccer match at Exposition Park at the beginning of September, Dodgers pitcher Julio Urias was detained on domestic violence charges.
Since then, the Dodgers have taken the starting pitchers’ locker out of the clubhouse as the MLB looks into the matter. Regardless of how his case turns out in court, Urias might be judged guilty by Major League Baseball on September 27.
Fans are largely in the dark regarding the specifics of Urias’ present connection with the team because of the ongoing investigation. In an interview with Foul Territory, Dodgers utility player Kiké Hernandez clarified what the players knew about the circumstance.
Hernandez, who the Dodgers acquired this season in a deal with the Boston Red Sox, remarked, “We know nothing, man. “I’m being as open and honest as I can by saying that we know what you guys know. We are aware of what is out there, but the team hasn’t talked to us about it. The team is waiting to learn what’s going on, which is very bad for us, for him, and for the victim. Hopefully, we’ll learn more soon.

In May 2019, Urias was accused of pushing a lady he was with, although the alleged victim claimed she fell instead. Despite not being charged, Urias received a 20-game suspension from MLB for breaking the league’s domestic violence policy.
The 27-year-old pitcher will become a free agent at the end of the 2023 season, and it is extremely likely that the Dodgers won’t re-sign him.
