Cincinnati Reds starter Graham Ashcraft to have season-ending toe surgery Tuesday

The final member of the starting rotation from the first game of the season is Hunter Greene, who has spent some time on both the Injured List and the COVID Injured List.

Ashcraft concluded the season with a 2.58 ERA in his final 12 starts, averaging six innings per start for the Reds’ infamous rotation after an eight-game skid in May and June.

He makes 26 starts altogether and ends his second big league season with a 7-9 record and a 4.76 ERA. In his previous start on September 1, he pitched into the sixth inning while surrendering three runs to the Chicago Cubs.

Manager David Bell remarked, “We’ll figure it out,” in response to the question of how the Reds will find enough pitching to make it to October.
