Suns’ Kevin Durant, Nike release two new ‘KD 16’ colorways

The second is called “Emotional Pathways,” and it features shades of purple, royal blue, and aqua.

The post mentioned that these shoes “pop with a translucent sole styled in the vivacious aqua tone,” in addition to the 3M piping. “Attentive observers will see wavy lines on the upper that are reminiscent of the 1996 Nike Air Penny 2.

There are clear references to the past, but the cut and composition are as cutting edge as it gets, saving weight and increasing impact return for performance and durability. The “KD16,” which retails on Nike for $150, is now available in three different hues. After being traded to the Suns in February, Durant was instrumental in the team’s postseason run. In 11 postseason games, he averaged 29.0 points, 9.7 rebounds, and 5.5 assists while playing the most minutes of any player.

Before the playoffs, Durant appeared in eight games for the Suns during the regular season. Due to an ankle sprain he sustained during pregame warmups, he was unable to contribute to the team chemistry necessary to advance in the playoffs.

The Suns spent the offseason trying to assemble a team around Durant and talented player Devin Booker. Phoenix improved their bench by acquiring three-time All-Star Bradley Beal and other players like former NBA Sixth Man of the Year Eric Gordon and Durant’s former Brooklyn Nets teammate Yuta Watanabe.

Frank Vogel, the new coach of the Suns, has been a part of the coaching staff that has finished first in the NBA in defensive rating three times since 2012.
