A ‘disappointed’ Magic Johnson discusses Team USA’s loss to Germany at the FIBA World Cup

After Team USA’s loss at the FIBA World Cup, Los Angeles Lakers great Magic Johnson was not in a good mood. Johnson turned to Twitter to voice his disappointment in Friday’s startling 113-111 loss to Germany that effectively eliminated Team USA from gold medal contention in the FIBA competition.

Johnson expressed his displeasure with the 111-113 loss to Germany by the United States mešš—’s basketball team in the FIBA World Cup. We’re playing now for bronze instead of gold.

For Team USA, it was their second defeat at this year’s FIBA tournament. They dropped a game to the Lithuanian national team earlier in the week, but then beŠ°t Italy soundly to set up a showdown with Germany.

NBA stars Dennis Schroder, Franz Wagner, and Mo Wagner, Franz’s brother, lead the German National Team. However, despite Anthony Edwards, shooting guard for the Minnesota Timberwolves, having a fantastic tournament overall, his 23 points were not enough to help Team USA beŠ°t Germany.

Similarly, Magic Johnson is familiar with the feeling of winning a major basketball tournament on a global stage. Johnson played for the legendary 1992 NBA “Dream Team,” which also included Michael Jordan, Larry Bird, and other Hall of Famers.

The United States Olympic Team will now focus on Sunday’s bronze medal match versus Canada. It would be great if the American team could recover and avoid additional disappointing Johnson.
